4th Quarter action at the 2016 Garnet and Gold game

Enjoy college football? Seminole fans sure do. Check out the spring game in Orlando

[espro-slider id=2851]Wow, what a beautiful sunny Saturday in Orlando, Florida as me, my hubby and nearly 50,000 of our closest Seminole friends descended upon the newly renovated Orlando Citrus Bowl for the annual Garnet and Gold game.  We got to ditch the kids, with a babysitter of course, and “tailgate” in style at the RP Funding club area.  These club seats were added in during a massive $207 million renovation which resulted in numerous enhancements and amenities and a completely modernized stadium.  Needless to say we enjoyed all the upgrades.  Along with great friends, food and drinks this day was a pretty good day for college football and the FSU program.  We were happy to help, FSU.

Promising Talent on the field

Not only was it a successful turnout, but the talent on the field didn’t disappoint.  The Seminoles have 11 returning offensive starters and plenty to look forward to this upcoming season.  With current quarterback Sean Maguire out healing from a broken leg during last year’s post-season, the battle between back-up quarterbacks showed some promise.  Deondre Francois showed off his running ability, including a 25-yard gain on 3rd-and-long.  While Malik Henry finished the spring game with 205 yards and two touchdowns with no picks on 15-of-22 passing.

The FSU secondary proved to be up to the task.  They had two interceptions and also looked physical with some heavy hits and a combined eight pass breakups.

The running game presented some good options as well with Ryan Green and Jacques Patrick shining at times with touchdown runs, as starter Dalvin Cook was sidelined from a shoulder surgery.

Great events surrounding the game

There was also plenty of fun to be had at events surrounding the game as well.  FSU partnered up Florida Citrus Sports to host a Block Party on Friday night down at the I-Drive 360, Home of the Orlando Eye.  And on game day, fans were able to take their families to the FSU Spring game FanFest on Tinker Field as well as the 4Rivers Smokehouse Seminole Pregame, The Official Florida State Tailgate.

Official Post-Game Block Party

After the game, we took our crew and headed down to Church Street Station for the post-game party with live entertainment, plenty of food, drinks and people watching.  It was a fun evening and one to remember.   Can’t wait to do it again this September when Florida State opens its season against the Ole Miss Rebels on Labor Day.  It will undoubtedly be a game worthy of national attention and an exciting way to begin the 2016 college football season.

Let’s go Noles!
